I noticed this building a few days ago, from a distance. Its striking red façade and the long line of the grey roof immediately caught my attention — a pure urban rhythm, a geometry that reveals itself most clearly from above. When I checked the flight authorization recently granted by the Civil Aviation Directorate, I was pleased to find that the approved drone zone covered the area right next to this building. That was a clear sign: I had to return.
And I did. The composition was already there — red and grey, horizontal bands, shadows sliding slowly down the façade. But one detail was missing, the element that would bring everything together: a person. In previous days, a dozen people sat on the terrace, but a group wasn’t what I wanted. I needed just one solitary human accent to transform this architectural graphic into a human story.
So I waited. For a long time. More than half an hour I watched the empty terrace, convinced that the moment I needed would eventually appear. And then — quietly, almost unnoticed — a man walked out, brought a chair, placed it under the red overhang, and sat down to enjoy a bit of February sun.
I could have lowered the drone and captured him fully, but that wasn’t the photograph I was after. I chose to remain high above: the partial figure gives scale without taking over the frame; the architecture remains dominant, yet alive. A subtle human presence — just enough to give meaning to the geometry.
That’s how this photograph came to be: as a meeting of color, line and patience. And as a reminder that Belgrade always rewards those who know how to wait.

Ovu zgradu primetio sam pre nekoliko dana, iz daljine. Njena snažna crvena fasada i dugačka linija sivog krova odmah su me privukle — čist urbani ritam, geometrija koja se najbolje čita odozgo. Kada sam proverio Odobrenje koje sam nedavno dobio od Direktorata civilnog vazduhoplovstva, sa zadovoljstvom sam video da upravo u neposrednoj blizini ove zgrade imam odobrenu zonu za let. To je bio znak da se moram vratiti.
I jesam. Kompozicija je već bila spremna: crveno i sivo, horizontalne trake, senke koje polako klize niz fasadu. Ali nedostajao mi je jedan detalj koji će sve povezati — čovek. Prethodnih dana bilo ih je desetak na terasi, ali grupa mi nije odgovarala. Trebao mi je samo jedan, usamljeni akcenat koji bi ceo ovaj arhitektonski grafizam pretvorio u ljudsku priču.
Zato sam čekao. Dugo. Više od pola sata posmatrao sam praznu terasu, verujući da će se pojaviti baš onaj prizor koji mi treba. I onda — tiho, gotovo neprimetno — izašao je jedan čovek, doneo stolicu, smestio je ispod crvene nadstrešnice i seo da uhvati malo februarskog sunca.
Mogao sam da spustim letilicu niže i snimim ga celog, ali to nije bila fotografija koju sam želeo. Namerno sam ostao visoko: delimična figura daje merilo, ali ne preuzima kadar; arhitektura ostaje dominantna, a ipak živa. Svedena ljudska prisutnost — taman koliko treba da geometrija dobije smisao.
Tako je nastala ova fotografija: kao susret boja, linija i strpljenja. I kao potvrda da Beograd, kada mu se priđe pažljivo, uvek nagradi onoga ko ume da čeka.
