A Studio Above the City

Shooting from a drone that hovers perfectly still in the air is a true pleasure. At times I have the impression that the camera is mounted on a gigantic tripod. In those moments I feel as if I were in a vast studio — shifting the camera fifty meters left or right, rising a hundred meters into the sky, then descending almost to the very surface of the roof. I switch lenses from 28 mm, to 70 mm, and finally to a powerful 168 mm telephoto. Pure photographic delight.
And then, when I come across a scene with such strong geometry and color, everything comes down to precise fine-tuning and a gentle click. In a fraction of a second the camera records ten images — five RAW and five JPEG files. Along with the correctly measured exposure, there are also frames darker and lighter by 2/3 and 4/3 of a stop, so I know I have the perfectly exposed photograph.
When I return from shooting, I immediately save all the material onto two external hard drives. Then I select one photograph like this and post it on my Facebook page, and sometimes on Instagram — a small window into the world above the city.

Snimanje iz bespilotne letelice koja potpuno mirno lebdi u vazduhu pravo je uživanje. Ponekad imam utisak kao da foto-aparat stoji na gigantskom stativu. U tom trenutku osećam se kao da sam u ogromnom ateljeu — pomeram kameru pedesetak metara levo ili desno, penjem se na stotinu metara visine, zatim se spuštam gotovo do samog krova. Menjam objektive od 28 mm, preko 70 mm, pa sve do snažnog teleobjektiva od 168 mm. Prava fotografska uživancija.
A onda, kada naiđem na prizor ovako snažne geometrije i boja, sve se svodi na savršeno fino podešavanje parametara i jedan tihi klik. Aparat u deliću sekunde napravi deset fotografija — pet RAW i pet JPEG fajlova. Uz precizno izmerenu ekspoziciju tu su i snimci tamniji i svetliji za 2/3 i 4/3 blende, pa znam da imam idealno eksponiranu fotografiju.
Po povratku sa snimanja, sav materijal odmah sačuvam na dva eksterna hard diska. Zatim izaberem jednu ovakvu fotografiju i postavim je na moju Facebook stranicu, a ponekad i na Instagram — kao mali prozor u svet iznad grada.
