Product Description
During the official opening of the reconstructed Republic Square in Belgrade, after more than 400 days of construction, it was publicly stated that the newly installed granite paving stones would last for centuries.
Only a few days later, the stones began to sink and shift. What followed was an unplanned intervention — lifting, turning over, and gluing the granite blocks back into place.
This photograph documents the contrast between political declarations and material reality, capturing a moment where urban space becomes a visible record of improvisation, repair, and contradiction.
The image stands as a visual testimony to contemporary public works in Serbia, revealing how permanence is often promised, while temporariness becomes the lived outcome.
