Product Description
On a cold and rainy day in November 1993, a crowd gathered in Takovska Street in Belgrade, in front of the Television Belgrade building — known at the time among opposition supporters as “TV Bastille.”
A group of journalists decided to help citizens by distributing food, such as canned sardines, at a moment when wars, international sanctions, and a prolonged economic collapse had pushed many people to the edge of survival.
The photograph documents a time when basic human needs became a luxury and dignity a daily struggle.
