With the rise to power of the nationalist-communist faction led by Slobodan Milošević, the slogan “Serbia, divided into three parts, must become whole again” entered public discourse. It clearly signaled the intention to abolish the autonomy of the provinces.
In Vojvodina, this was carried out through the so-called Yogurt Revolution on October 6, 1988. In Kosovo and Metohija, it followed on November 17 of the same year, when Azem Vllasi and Kaćuša Jashari resigned under political pressure.
Some time ago, I posted on Facebook a photograph from the village of Prekale showing a sign stating that all Serbian families were selling their property. Many asked me what the reason was. I do not know. But if I were forced to live without ever separating myself from a rifle, not even for a moment, I doubt that I would have stayed either.
