Product Description
Six months after the Yugoslav People’s Army entered Vukovar, I returned to document the city in the aftermath of destruction. The streets were no longer filled with tanks, gunfire, or burning houses, yet the silence that dominated the city was overwhelming. Ruins were everywhere, and only a few houses showed signs of repair.
Almost every building had been damaged or destroyed. Soldiers had disappeared, replaced by civilians cautiously returning to everyday life. What surprised me most were small flower gardens—carefully tended, as if planted just the day before—quiet signs of persistence and the human need to restore normalcy amid devastation.
