Product Description
Six months after the Yugoslav People’s Army entered Vukovar, I returned to document the city in the aftermath of destruction. There were no longer tanks or fighting in the streets, but the silence that had settled over the city was overwhelming. Ruins dominated the urban landscape, while reconstruction had begun only in isolated cases.
This photograph shows the interior of a heavily damaged church — roofless, stripped to bare walls, and marked by destruction — bearing witness to the scale of devastation and the sudden absence of everyday life.
