Product Description
This photograph was taken in May 1993 during a visit to the war-affected area around Žepa by the author and his colleague Imre Szabó. It was one of the rare days when no fighting could be heard, yet traces of the conflict were visible everywhere. The image shows a perforated military helmet resting on a wooden roadside fence. The red star emblem, still clearly visible, indicates that the helmet once belonged to a soldier of the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA). Despite inquiries among local fighters, no one was able to provide information about the identity or fate of its former owner. The helmet remains as a silent witness to an unknown personal story within a larger conflict.
